Old DOS Games by PhoenixManX-XL Old DOS Games by PhoenixManX-XL
Ah yes, the good ol' games of Dos...
Top left: Chex Quest (I don't know if you've ever heard of it or not but it was only sold for a limited time in Chex cereal boxes a LONG time ago; good luck trying to find this game. It's basically a Doom remake)
Top right: Cosmo's Cosmic Adventure (a best-selling game of its time; made by Apogee)
Bottom left: Hocus Pocus (another best-seller of it's time; a very addictive game made in 1994)
Bottom right: Xargon (made by Epic MegaGames)

And all these games can still be played today... with DosBox! ^__^
(These aren't my only old DOS games; I have quite a few others, such as Descent 1 and 2, Jetpack, Skyroads, Commander Keen, and the list pretty much stops right there; yet I am looking for more "old games" as I speak!)

Lol... I installed the CD, then copied everything to DosBOX and ran it from there x3
For the installer program itself though, I had to make it compatible by messin with the installation setting on it--

Actually... Idk what I did o.o
Before this I had a Vista 32-bit, I think I backed up everything then copied it directly to my new laptop o3o It kept overheating and shutting itself down x_x

Yeah, considering my dad has it now, and he experienced the same problem as me... but the warranty's already expired on it so now we're stuck D':
This'll be the last laptop I'll ever have ;w; fortunately, it's never given me that problem yet (only once in Summer but that's because it was just too hot here o.o') and I've had my current one for 9+ years. But if I lost this one now... I'd never be able to replace it DX

Why won't you be able to replace it?

Because I don't have the money to afford one... they may be getting a bit cheaper to make, but on the opposite side of the coin it's hard enough just to buy a low-end one, and you have to pay $ by the thousands if you plan on getting a high-end ;-;

...especially because the job market is horrible nowadays D':

I never played the bottom two, but I still play cosmo (my first game ever) and chex quest (in fact I just today finished a playthrough of all 3 chex quest games on the highest difficulty). The main other old DOS games that I played are the word and math rescue games, and crystal caves (all Apogee I think), and a puzzle game called sherlock.

True--sometimes, the best games are actually the oldest. :3

I swear, the games they make nowadays just flat out suck; especially the newer Sonic games... just, bleh~ :bleh:

Plus, the nostalgia is a good feeling, I must admit~ ^^

God of thunder is amazing! Along with Cosmo, Vinyl Goddess from Mars, Prince of Persia (the old one of course), Wolfenstein, Civilization, Supaplex and Duke Nukem :)
And DosBOX is one of the best inventions ever!

Heh, same here XD
Ehm, I know a few... but, I usually don't cheat on a game unless I've already beaten it first... gosh though, I've beaten Xargon several times; but it's super-fun X3 (I used to have a HUGE Cosmo cheat list though X'DDD)

I still play these old games (thank goodness DosBOX works on Windows 7 :XD:), but now I'm also getting into the newer games, like Disgaea and stuff XP

haha i dont know many other games except for cosmo. I've completed all 3 games, so i use the god mode cheat for fun :) thats the only one i know thats any fun. i know there's one to get full health and bombs, and this other weird warp one, but thats all i know.

As i said, i dont know many other games, including the newer ones. the newest game i play is yoshi's island on my DS haha. i seem to have a thing for little green characters making their way through platform games xD

Wow... believe it or not, Cosmo was actually my very first game X3
And there's quite a lot of interesting cheats ^w^ --Sometimes, the health and bombs one doesn't seem to work right for me... perhaps I'm using the wrong button code input? o_O

Some people say that my fursona, Dice the Echidna, looks a lot like Cosmo... especially a die-hard Cosmo fan himself, ~T-SquaredPro! Check him out sometime! :D

And yes, green characters for the win. |3
Hey wait--does that also include Luigi? :meow:

The full health and bombs thing is TAB + F12 + Delete + F10 + w

Ah yes, the one in your DP? and yes, he does! I shall check him out :)

Yes, green characters does indeed include luigi! although in yoshi's island he's anoying me because rescuing him from the evil magicoopa is proving very difficult xD

Okay, I'm searching Chex Quest *quite the awesome Doom remake* and I saw this, and thought, oh, it's a demotivator... When I saw the screen shot from Hocus Pocus, I LITERALLY, in a raspy/excited voice yelled out 'Oh my god it's Hocus Pocus!' 8D Hocus Pocus, Xargon, and Chex Quest are all very awesome games, and this brings back so many memories. ;_; Back when almost all computers had floppy drives.

Also had Hopy-One, which was pretty good, but we never got the shareware. As a little kid, you tend to have very little money, you know? :\

Heck yeah! Chex Quest was among my fav's. B-) And Hocus Pocus was awesome too--seriously, that game NEEDS fanart! X'D Too bad floppy drives are outdated now... I would've loved to play Elfland again... ;_;

Hopy-One? Wow... never heard of that game... X3 Then again, I didn't have that much money as a kid either, and I had a lot of shareware games as well, and I couldn't buy anything online... and, to this day, even though I'm almost 21 my parents still won't let me buy anything online, especially the registered version of a game... T_T so I know how it feels. :pat:

Thanks so much for the :+fav: though! It means a lot! :')

Man tho, I used to get the shareware games at the dollar store by my house. There was also Pickle Wars. now THAT was fun. 8D

I am very glad there are others that haven't forgotten about Chex Quest. That game was one of the best DOS games I ever played, next to Ultima 7: The Black Gate (if only I can play that again...).

I'm glad there actually was a second and third official Chex Quest games released. ^^ It really brought back some nostalgia.

Yeah... that game WAS kinda difficult...
I found a way to conserve health potions on that game, though, and also learned how to leave beaten paths and avoid conflicts. I actually got the highest possible score on that game; I forgot what it ws but I know it was just over 1.3 million points! O_O

For me, the hardest game was actually Cosmo. Some jumps in that game you couldn't even make because you'd fall in the pit since they were just TOO large! O_O But I found a few secrets in tht game to help me get through it... one of them required like a crap load of bombs (I think like 4 or 5 of em), and even then the item was a pain to get. But the item was well worth it; a sandwich that would raise your maximum HP by 1! Gotta love those sandwiches--yummy!

What was hard about Hocus Pocus for you? Was it the damage the enemies did? Or was it the final level--I'll have to admit, that scared the heck outta me too! Those monks--don't touch one...

There's a series of torrents (which can be found in IsoHunt) named "DOS Collection". Practically every game released can be found there.
